About Us

What’s the Strong’s Neck Civic Association "SNCA" All About?

The SNCA shares information with the community—if you have a fallen tree on a power line, need your road sanded, want information on water cleanliness—we can suggest who to contact.

The SNCA has no official policing power—often, our power is in the written word. The town and county have asked us to weigh in on issues that affect our area.

The SNCA concerns deal mainly with environmental issues, preservation of open space, and local clean up.
Board members have attended relevant community meetings and keep the Association up-to-date.

We offer bi-annual meetings with presentations by guest speakers, a chance to talk with your neighbors and feel connected to your community. Board meetings are open to all residents. We meet at the Setauket Neighborhood House on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 8 p.m.

Preserving Strong’s Neck Arbor Quality
Residents should keep their eyes posted on the SNCA web-site for an opportunity to purchase mature trees as part of the Neck’s Greening of Strong’s Neck Project. We are encouraging residents to replace street-side trees that have been lost with new ones that are both hardy and beautiful. A local arborist will guide this effort which will begin with Maple Road and go on to other areas from there. Joint purchases and discounts should keep prices low. Look for the upcoming article on the SNCA web site.
